For end users to manage specific amounts of servers, desktops and notebooks from a System Area Manager, the resellers account is debited and the System Area Manager is credited for those amounts. To credit the System Area Manager, it's license key file needs to be modified through the SyAM Software License Key Server by following the steps below: 1. The End User browses to the System Area Manager software and generates its current license key file and saves to a disk. Then this is emailed to the reseller along with a purchase order of the number of systems (servers and desktops/notebooks) they wish to manage. 2. The reseller sends the purchase order to their distributor. Then logs into their account on the SyAM License Key Server and clicks on “Key Management” link.
3. When prompted, upload the key file you saved in step 1 to the server.
4. The server will display the current amount of desktops and servers attributed to that System Area Managers license as well as the available balance of desktops and servers.
5. Input the amount of desktops and/or servers to ADD to this license, this can not exceed the available balances in the account. 6. When the request is submitted, the ecommerce server will provide a new file containing the updated license. Save this new license key file to a disk and email to the end user. 7. The End User browses to the System Area Manager software again, and this time uploads the new license key file. They will see the amounts of desktops and servers increase by the amounts debited from their account.
8. Maintenance will start the date the key was processed and will expire in one year. To upgrade a System Area Manager to manage more systems follow the steps above again, this time entering in the amount of systems the end user wishes to add to their current license. The maintenance expiration date will remain based on the first initial purchase date. |
