What do I install? There are two levels of management available, for both Windows and
Linux.
Things to consider: One system running Server Monitor Central can manage many system systems running the system client software.
Where to Begin: For Desktops or Workstations running Windows 2000 Professional, XP Professional or a Linux Workstation Operating System begin with System Client for Desktops.
Adding Central Management: Once you have installed the Local System Management software on a set of
systems, you can enjoy features like centralized alerting, event
logging, asset reports, remote console, etc. by installing Central
Management Software.
Using a System Image for Mass Deployment: If you are accustomed to building one system with a master image and the taking a snapshot of the image to deploy to other similar systems there is one extra step that needs to be done before taking your snapshot of the system running the system client software. You need a utility to set the systems monitoring agent back to a fresh state. This utility is not shipped as part of the software release and must be requested from product support.
